The village of Strathpeffer is unique; it nestles in the folds of Ben Wyvis, the second highest mountain in the Scottish Highlands, at the point where the valley of the Peffery meets Ulladale. Although referred to by the locals as a village it surpasses this description owing to its connection with the past as a very lively Spa that attracted the very wealthy to the area in order to benefit from the recuperative powers of the waters. The legacy of these earlier times is the magnificent array of individually designed buildings that are a joy to anyone interested in architecture and history.

The most lively period for the village as a spa was towards the end of the nineteenth century, but restricted access to the Highlands during two world wars led to the closing of the Pump Room as the popularity of the treatment declined. Today sees the renaissance of the village as a popular tourist area with the old railway station restored to its former glory and used as a craft centre, the village square upgraded with a new sample room for the waters, and the Pavilion, its gardens and other facilities have recently been restored.

Accomodation is plentiful in the village and its excellent position, just north of Inverness, allows easy access to the whole of the Highlands. A wealth of quality golf courses within an hours drive make Strathpeffer the perfect base for a golfing holiday.

There are many opportunities for outdoor pursuits, e.g. fishing, walking, climbing, stalking, etc., plus the magnificent golf course with its wonderful views from the clubhouse down the Peffery valley and beyond to the Black Isle, and from the upper end of the golf course, westward, to the Fannich hills.
